Pre-readathon book scavenger hunt

readathon-update-3

As mentioned in my previous post, there is a scavenger hunt as part of the pre-readathon prep phase, organized by the Dewey Goodreads group.

I really would like to finish this hunt and will keep track of things here. As per instructions, multiple items can be found in the same book. But I decided to not double-dip. So, without duplicates, this is what I have (16/24):

1. a pet
2. illustrations The One and Only Ivan (Katherine Applegate)
3. snow The Orphan Band of Springdale (Anne Nesbet)
4. rain Who’s who (Tom Hanks, a short story in Uncommon Type)
5. kissing scene
6. summer setting Fury of the Orcas (Hunter Shea)
7. high school/boarding school setting Will Grayson, Will Grayson (John Green, David Levithan)
8. setting in a different country/world The Stupendously Spectacular Spelling Bee (Deborah Abela)
9. magic The Girl Who Drank the Moon (Kelly Barnhill)
10. mixed media (texts, emails, videos) Fangirl (Rainbow Rowell)
11. love triangle
12. “the chosen one” trope The Flight of the Silvers (Daniel Price)
13. assassins
14. a different language is spoken The Time Machine (H.G.Wells)
15. a book about history
16. a book with fairy tales
18. video games The Three-Body Problem (Liu Cixin)
19. a sword fight
20. a character travels by ship, plane, or train The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (Kate DiCamillo)
21. unusual character names Shadowsong (S.Jae-Jones)
22. a book over 100 pages Misery (Stephen King)
23. a book written in the last 11 years (that’s how long Dewey’s readathon has been) Sour Candy (Kealan Patrick Burke)
24. a book with blue on the cover Somebody’s Daughter (David Bell)
