Hi bookies,
Keep your eyes peeled for these goodies! As always, I’ve linked the titles to my Goodreads reviews or to the actual book page.
Books I reviewed before release:
The Family by P. R. Black; May 2 Thriller, Horror
I just picked this one up from NetGalley as someone in my reading group had read the ARC and seemed to be blown away. It promises to be much more horror than thriller. Gruesome. Cruel. Dark. I hope I am going to love it.
Stoker’s Wilde by Steven Hopstaken and Melissa Prusi; May 9 Horror, Historical Fiction
A homage to 19th-century Gothic authors and their contemporaries. Lots of referential nuggets for you to discover.
Books I am anticipating to read:
The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms May 1 Chick Lit
This was my Prime First Read selection. It was a fast and easy read, perfect for a day in the sun. The story wasn’t earth-shattering or novel but the characters were relatable and felt real.
The Bride Test by Helen Hoang; May 7 Contemporary, Chick Lit, Romance
This is mt BOTM selection and I can’t wait for it to get here. I loved her first book, The Kiss Quotient. This one promises again an own-voices led story!
The First by Katherine Applegate; May 7 Children, Middle-Grade, Fantasy
I adore everything Katherine Applegate conjures!
Finale by Stephanie Garber; May 7 YA, Fantasy
Ok, I had to admit, I haven’t read any of the Caraval books but I keep meaning to do that. Maybe I’ll just binge this trilogy!
Again, But Better by Christine Riccio; May 7 YA, Romance
Starting over always sounds lovely to me. I think this will be a super cute read.
We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal; May 14 YA, Fantasy
This story is inspired by ancient Arabian tales. I love that already. This is one of those series where I have high hopes to feel completely enveloped in a beautiful world that is new to me.
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling; May 26 YA, Fantasy, LGBTQA+
Salem’s Witches. LGBTQA+ characters. Count me in.
